CPP Standard Cancellation Plan Details 

Our Standard Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP Standard Plan) will allow you, for any reason, to provide written cancellation up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive a refund equal to 80% of the eligible amounts paid to Holland America Line. CPP Standard is available to all guests, regardless of residency, excluding permanent residents of the United Kingdom.
 
In addition, Holland America Line (HAL) automatically assumes an additional $500 (USD) of liability for lost, damaged or delayed baggage of guests who purchase the CPP Standard Plan still subject, however, to the limitations in our baggage policies. For example, we do not cover losses while baggage is in the custody of airlines. 
 
Please note: The CPP Standard Plan is not insurance – this is an optional purchase offered by and administered by Holland America Line. It may be added to your reservation to provide you with trip cancellation protection for up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel. It provides no rights other than those explained above. For example, it does not protect double-triple-quad occupancy rates should one or more members of your party cancel, nor does it cover expenses for unused services due to trip interruption.
 
The CPP Standard Plan is available for purchase prior to the date on which cancellation fees begin to accrue. Payment is due at time of purchase. The cost of CPP Standard is non-refundable. The per person, per cruise cost is listed with the cruise fares. 

CPP Platinum Cancellation Plan Details 

Our Platinum Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP Platinum) enables you to supplement the benefits provided under the CPP Standard Plan with higher cancellation reimbursement and extends the eligible cancellation period up until the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line. CPP Platinum also provides insurance coverage for trip delays and interruptions, medical expenses and much more. In addition, CPP Platinum includes 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance services.

Cancel for Any Reason Waiver - Provided by Holland America Line
You may cancel for any reason prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive reimbursement equal to 90% of the eligible amounts paid to Holland America Line. Note: CPP Platinum does not protect double-triple-quad occupancy rates should one or more members of your party cancel prior to departure.
 
TRAVEL INSURANCE PROGRAM - Underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company and Affiliated Companies, Columbus, OH

  • Trip Interruption: Enables you to cancel or interrupt your cruise vacation for illness, injury or death to you, an immediate family member or a traveling companion, as well as certain other non-medical reasons affecting you or your traveling companion, and receive up to 150% of your cruise vacation cost.
  • Trip Delay: If you miss the departure of your cruise due to carrier-caused delays or other specified reasons, you could be reimbursed up to $500 for additional accommodations, meals and “catch-up” transportation expenses.
  • Baggage Protection: If your baggage or personal property is lost or damaged, you could be reimbursed up to $1,000. If your bags are delayed or misdirected by a common carrier for more than 24 hours, you could be reimbursed up to $500 for the purchase of necessary personal effects.
  • Medical Expense Coverage: Should you become injured or sick during your vacation, you could be reimbursed up to $10,000 for medical expenses.
  • Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation: In the event that serious illness or injury requires air or ground transportation to a specialized facility or to return home, you could be provided up to $50,000 in covered medical services and supplies (coordinated by our 24-hour assistance provider) to help ensure your safe transport. Repatriation coverage provides for shipment of remains in the event of death during the cruise vacation.

This plan provides insurance coverage that applies only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

Provides 24-hour assistance services including: pre-cruise health, safety and weather information; assistance with travel changes; lost luggage assistance; emergency cash transfer assistance; emergency medical and dental assistance; lost travel document assistance; and emergency medical payment assistance.
 
Note that the benefits and services provided in CPP Platinum are available only to guests who enroll in and pay the appropriate program cost to Holland America Line. Payment of the required cruise deposit does not automatically activate enrollment in CPP Platinum Protection. Holland America Payments & Refunds

To reserve your cabin and lock in the final price, you will be required to place a deposit on your cruise. After you have placed a deposit to secure your reservation, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance of your fare at the final payment due date.

Cancellation and Refunds

Penalties may apply if you cancel or change your reservation. Penalties can be up to 100% of the amount paid, and deposits are often non-refundable. We recommend purchasing insurance to protect against covered unexpected events. Please check with your My Cruise Fare cruise counselor for cancellation and refund policies for Holland America cruises.

Holland America ships boast extensive dining options including "light & healthy" items, continental and ethnic cuisines, and vegetarian dishes. In fact, Holland America's cuisine is so diverse and enticing that the entire fleet has been inducted into the prestigious Confrerie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a gourmet society founded in Paris and devoted to promoting the pleasures of the table.

Main Dining Room Policies: Holland America offers passengers dining-time flexibility with its As You Wish program. During booking, guests can choose either the traditional dining arrangements with an early and late seating or choose a flexible dining plan. The early and late seating times for the traditional plan can vary by ship or itinerary, but are usually at around 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., respectively. Guests that opt for the flexible plan will have until 4:00 p.m. to make a reservation at any of the ship’s restaurants, or they can walk in anytime during the dining hours of 5:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The As You Wish open seating option is available on all Holland America ships.

Dress Code: With the exception of two gala nights, the dress code is smart casual. Appropriate attire for men is slacks and a collared shirt, while women are advised to wear slacks and blouse, a sundress or a pantsuit. For gala dinners, men should wear a jacket and tie, and women should wear an evening gown or cocktail dress. Shorts, t-shirts and swimwear are never permitted in the main dining room and jeans are not permitted at dinner.

Beverage Policy: All beverages except tea, coffee, juice and water are at an additional cost.

Special Requests: Special meals are available including low-calorie, vegetarian, no MSG, low/no sodium and low/no cholesterol meals, as well as sugar-free and fat-free desserts. Kosher meals are available on all ships and itineraries and must be requested at least 90 days prior to sailing.

All dining rooms onboard Holland America ships are smoke-free.

Holland America provides a wide variety of exciting youth- and teen- friendly activities and facilities for guests ages 3 to 17. With supervised fun for younger guests, the entire family can have the cruise vacation of their dreams.
 
Safe and Managed Supervision
You can feel at ease knowing that your child's on board experience is safe and well-managed. Your child will have the opportunity to join other kids their age for array of Kids’ Club activities, supervised by permanent, full-time staff. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.
 
Programs Available

  • Kids’ Program (ages 3-6): Highlights for kids ages 3 to 6 include “Painting Picassos,” and “Sing-Along Storytime,” as well as theme parties, such as “Dino-Mite Night” and “Ships Ahoy Pirate Treasure Hunt Adventure.”  Children in pull-ups or diapers are not allowed in the youth facilities, due to mandates from US Public Health. Exceptions to this rule cannot be made.
  • Tweens Program (ages 7-12): From ice-cream eating contests to gaming tournaments and theme parties, tweens will have plenty to enjoy. There’s also a BBC Earth Experiences Amazing and Awesome Fact Show designed just for them!
  • Teens Program (ages 13-17): Teen cruisers enjoy mocktail parties, karaoke and trivia contests, jewelry making, video games, staff vs. teens volleyball tournaments, themed events and more.

Additional Family Services
Holland America Line is dedicated to making your family's cruise vacation memorable and happy for each member of your family. Holland America serves a wide variety of kid-pleasing food, including special sandwiches, tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza. Baby food, high chairs and booster seats may be requested in advance of boarding. Special kid-friendly birthday parties can also be arranged with advance notice. Xbox and Wii games are available for all youth ages 3 – 17. Please see the Youth Staff for details. Completion of a parental permission form is required for checkout of all equipment.
 
Special Needs
HAL Youth Programs recognize that some children may have special needs. Special needs children are invited to attend activities based on their chronological age. HAL Youth Programs have many staff trained to work with special needs children. Guests should make HAL aware of this when booking their reservation.

For the comfort of all of our guests, all staterooms (cabins), showrooms and most other indoor areas are designated non-smoking. No smoking of any kind will be permitted on any stateroom verandah.

Any guest who smokes inside staterooms or on verandahs in violation of our policy will be charged a US$250 cleaning fee per day of violation and will risk being removed from the ship for repeated violations.
